Requirements for VAT Registration For Start-ups with NO transaction history OR company has never made more than R50000 within 12 months:

  1. Company Registration Certificate
  2. Active Public Officer
  3. Bank Confirmation of Account Details / Bank statement
  4. Business contact email and number
  5. Awarded tender or Contract  that shows the company would make more than R50000

Requirements for VAT Registration For companies with WITH transaction history of more than R50000 within a 12 month period:

  1. Company Registration Certificate
  2. Active Public Officer
  3. Returns needs to be up to date
  4. 6 months Bank statement or 3 months if the company has traded for less than 6 months
  5. Company invoices issued to clients that show more than R50000 and such amount reflects on the bank statement and references on the bank statement correspond with invoices.
  6. Invoices of business expenses or capital purchases that reflect business name preferably
  7. Business contact email and number
  8. Awarded tender or Contract if available

Requirements for VAT Registration For companies that have made more than R1 million within a 12-month period:

  1. Company Registration Certificate
  2. Active Public Officer
  3. Returns needs to be up to date
  4. 6 months Bank statement or 3 months if the company has traded for less than 6 months
  5. At least 5 to 10 Company invoices issued to clients that show more than R50000 and such amount reflects on the bank statement and references on the bank statement correspond with invoices.
  6. Invoices of business expenses or capital purchases that reflect the business name preferably

  8. Awarded tender or Contract if available
